We can't wait to have fun with S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) again this summer! This year's weekly themes are:
Comic Book SuperheroesWho are your favorite characters? A lot of them are heroes, right? This is your chance to create your own superhero story! Inspired by nature, we’ll make our own superhero characters and storylines. We’ll learn different comic-making techniques from around the world. Get ready to begin your summer STEAM adventure!
YOUtopiaWhat is a community? This week, we’re focusing on collaborating with each other to craft a YOUtopia, with activities such as futuristic cardboard city build. We will explore the difference between a utopia and dystopia, and create the environment to house superheroes and villains from the previous week! What do you want to see in a utopian future? Time to design a future around the change you wish to see in the world!
Cosplay FantasyYou spent the previous two weeks creating superpowered storylines and futuristic settings. Now it’s time to become your character(s)! Make costumes and props, learn special effects makeup techniques, take greenscreen photos, and strut your stuff in a cosplay masquerade!
Creative ComputingComputing is much more than just hunching over a keyboard! This week, we’ll build artistic robots, learn to code stories and games, and bring 3D modeled creations to life through 3D printing. Computers and high-tech tools are everywhere these days; this is your chance to learn how they work and apply your own creative flair to them!
Cinemagic MoviemakingInterested in movies? This week we will transform into a film crew and create our own movie. Building off of the storylines, settings, and cosplay we’ve worked on so far, we’re bringing our ideas to the big screen! Learn about what it takes to film an original movie - from acting to editing. Lights…Camera…ACTION!
Eco FuturesLet’s be eco-warriors to help create a bright future for our Earth! Learn about the history of the environmental movement, its successes and struggles, eco-justice concepts, and the landscape of green innovation. Build ideas for a future that’s good for both people and planet, like solar-powered vehicles, and growing food in greenhouses. The future is green, and the future is YOU!
Once again, we're bringing our friends from the Danny Devine Studio to create some awesome art projects every Friday during camp.
The best part is it's FREE to all Northgate district families!
Room is limited and Pre-registration is required.
